As the number of biracial Americans grow in today’s society it is important to understand some of the struggles they face simply by being a combination of their parents racial groups. We are all so familiar with the black stereotypes, the white stereotypes, the Mexican stereotypes etc. but what happens when you are forced to navigate more than one racial stereotype? Whatever their particular ethnic mix, biracial Americans often struggle to fit in. What’s the experience of being multiracial and feeling like others categorize you one way or the other? Can being perceived as one particular group of another affect a persons well-being? How does one navigate that?
These are the things we are discussing in today’s conversation as the host Mil Ivory has an honest conversation with a young lady about her experience as a bi racial American. Listen and let us know your thoughts on this! If you are a bi racial American what advice can you offer that has helped you? #Let’stalkaboutit
