Do you see your glass as half empty or half full?
Wednesday May 05, 2021
Wednesday May 05, 2021
In this conversation the host is challenging all the CDC community to not only ask themselves do they see their glass half empty or half full. Why is that important you say? If you are the type of person who always sees their glass half empty it means you are a pessimistic person versus the opposite of being optimistic. Optimists focus on the good whereas pessimists tend to focus on the bad. If you are a pessimistic person simple put, you are a negative thinker. In which case this conversation is targeted at you. In this conversation the host hopes to enlighten and convert or at least encourage negative thinkers to become positive thinkers. Just an attempt to let you guys know the power in positive thinking and how it can help to improve your mental, emotional, physical and sometimes financial and sexual health.

There are just some things that show no prejudice of who it attaches too. Doesn’t matter you age, race, importance, talent or popularity. Struggles..... We all go through things in life. These things can define us and have an ever lasting impact on us. Mental health conditions, poverty and addictions are some that are commonly overlooked and underserved. These are all things that will take a toll on you. If you do not deal with them, they will deal with you. One thing about the hip hop legend DMX that has recently parted he was very vocal and open about his struggles with these things. How them impacted him, how they made him feel, and often times expressing feeling of being tired and helpless. His openness has inspired this conversation. Soooooo many things were overlooked because he was who he was. Disregarding that no matter his position was in this world he was human first. A man that was fighting almost his whole life. Dealing with things that were out of his control. I want to honor him in this conversation. Bring light to some of the things that people seem scared to talk about and confront! Normalization only occurs from conversation!!

Should your sexual orientation affect your religious experience?
Monday Apr 12, 2021
Monday Apr 12, 2021
Mil Ivory has a conversation with two guest who are part of or has been a part of the LGBTQ community on how your sexual orientation can affect your religious experience. For decades one of the most enduring ethical issues across Christian traditions is sexual diversity. Today we touch on what the bible actually says about attraction to someone of the same sex and how that can affect someone interactions with people in the religious setting. Acknowledging the fact that sexuality for the most part was not understood in biblical times and these times are changing to be more open to the change. Engaging in a same sex relationship is not always a direct rejection of the Bible’s authority in their lives. Is there such a thing as neutral interpretations? Is there one correct way to interpret the Bible and if so who determines that? To most conservative Christian’s their interpretation is that same-sex relationships = sin and people who engage in such behavior are not able to reflect God’s intent. So today we are going to talk about it!!

Monday Mar 08, 2021
Monday Mar 08, 2021
In today’s conversation the host Mil Ivory speaks on the importance of empowering and inspiring others. It is very important for people who are empowered to “reach back” and empower others. When people feel empowered, they believe in themselves and their capability to control their professional and personal lives. When you help to empower others it promotes a “can-do” attitude which helps people to live more positive purpose driven lives, that allow them to do the same for someone and keep the positivity and inspiration going.

Your Strong Friend
Monday Feb 22, 2021
Monday Feb 22, 2021
In this conversation Mil shares how carrying the title of “ The Strong One” can affect a person. For some of us being strong is default to us, second nature. You don’t know how not to be strong, even if you tried. You’re the one who always holds it together, keeps going, and perseveres despite all. Being “the strong one “ may not always be easy but it is absolutely necessary. We (the world) need fighters, the ones who see the beauty in pain, hope in the moments of doubt. I want you to know that being the strong one is a beautiful thing and self care is equally important! We don’t usually see what everyone else sees in our strength. It’s hard to see what you carry inside, so we don’t know what it looks like, how much it is needed and appreciated. Sometimes we see it as a weakness. Being the strong one often gets in way, becomes heavy and tiring. You don’t know how to go through life any other way, but no one can be “the strong one” all the time for the people in our lives. Sometimes being “the strong one” is taking care of yourself. Not allowing your own needs and hardships to be postponed or disregarded in your efforts to support others. We have to stop doing that!! You should make a habit of asking yourself .... I’m always looking out for others..... but who is looking out for me? Just to help you prioritize and remind you if you use all of you up for everyone else, what are you leaving for yourself? Self care and self love is the best love!!
